Position Summary:
The faculty member will guide students through the teaching/learning process, maintain the assigned schedule, and carry out other related duties as needed. The role requires the ability to teach both macroeconomics and microeconomics.
*This is an on-campus, in-person teaching position.*
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans and delivers courses that meet current curriculum goals and objectives.
- Stays current with subject matter knowledge and instructional methods.
- Ensures consistency in planning, preparation, and delivery of course content, syllabus, outlines, and teaching materials for courses and labs.
- Works effectively with students, challenging them appropriately while maintaining civility and productive discourse.
- Communicates student progress in the course promptly.
- Utilizes appropriate assessment techniques to gauge student performance against course goals and objectives. Collects, reports, and maintains assessment documentation.
- Assigns and submits student grades according to established College policies and procedures.
- Supports the mission of the program, division, and the College.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively one-on-one, in small groups, and in classroom settings.
- Proficient in word processing, presentation software, internet usage, and email.
- Competent with learning management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population.
- Capability to potentially teach in more than one discipline.
- Proven ability to advise students effectively.
- Strong verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving capabilities.
Education and Work Experience:
- Master’s degree in Economics or a related field (including at least 18 graduate semester hours) supporting the teaching of microeconomics or macroeconomics is required.
- Prior college-level teaching experience is preferred.
