Summary Of Responsibilities

We are looking for a London-based economist at the Analyst or Associate level for our Macro team. Key duties will likely involve:

  • Providing macroeconomic coverage for smaller developed economies, aiming to support the Rates and FX investment procedures.
  • Developing perspectives on the probable trajectory of growth, inflation, and policy within those nations, and eventually contributing to the investment idea generation process.
  • Assisting in the construction of statistical models and tools to support the research process and investment choices.
  • Supporting other economists and portfolio managers with ad hoc analytical and data tasks.
  • Crafting and delivering presentations to internal stakeholders, and aiding in the creation and upkeep of client-facing materials.

Preferred Qualifications & Skillset

  • A Master’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Finance is preferred.
  • Expected to possess 2 to 5 years of prior work experience relevant to macroeconomic research.
  • Strong quantitative abilities and proficiency in applied statistics and econometrics (time series & cross-sectional).
  • Familiarity with statistical software like EViews, Macrobond, Haver; experience with Python or another programming language is advantageous.
  • Solid understanding of macro and financial data, comprehension of institutional and policy-setting structures.
  • Profound curiosity and enthusiasm for the interplay between macroeconomics and financial markets.
  • A self-driven individual capable of working independently, while also collaborating effectively with other economists and portfolio managers.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal, written, and presentation abilities in English.
