Job Description

At Eni, we are seeking a Senior Economist to join Liverpool Bay CCS Limited in London, UK. In this role, you will support LBCCS and other Eni CCS entities by developing and maintaining financial models, conducting economic evaluations, and offering strategic insights to guide investment and commercial decisions. You will also ensure regulatory compliance through model updates for reporting, project financing, and lender requirements. Additionally, you will contribute to new economic models for emerging businesses, collaborate with regulatory bodies and senior management, and optimize economic outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain financial and economic models for project economics, cash flow forecasting, and valuation.
  • Update models to meet regulatory and lender reporting requirements and support periodic reporting.
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses and financial impact assessments.
  • Evaluate the effects of regulatory changes, market conditions, and economic policies.
  • Engage with regulatory bodies to shape policy and regulatory frameworks.
  • Create CCS economic models and participate in negotiations with Government Authorities.
  • Conduct financial analyses to support new business initiatives and strategic decisions.
  • Ensure compliance with Eni methodologies, regulatory guidelines, and lender requirements in economic evaluations.
  • Coordinate investment approvals and monitor related activities.
  • Assist in developing the Charging System Platform and commercial framework for the CCS business.
  • Shape the CCS business model in line with market developments.
  • Support business planning processes, including the Business Plan, 4-year plan, annual Budget, and Forecast.
  • Track company performance and identify deviations from established plans.
  • Implement Eni’s Planning & Control, Investment, and M&A authorization procedures.
  • Collaborate with other teams and provide cross-departmental support as needed.
  • Perform ad hoc tasks as required.

Skills and Requirements:

  • University degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Management, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in economic and financial modelling, particularly in regulated infrastructure and/or the energy sector.
  • Strong proficiency in financial modelling for project financing.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory and commercial frameworks and regulated market dynamics.
  • Proficiency in English and advanced knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a structured and methodical approach.
  • Team-oriented with a flexible, proactive mindset and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime or on weekends if required.
