Job Description

Chainlink Labs is the main contributing developer for Chainlink, the decentralized computing platform that fuels the verifiable web. Chainlink serves as the industry-standard system for accessing real-world data, performing offchain computations, and enabling secure cross-chain interoperability across various blockchains.

Chainlink Labs contributes to powering verifiable applications in sectors like banking, DeFi, global trade, and gaming through collaborations with major global financial institutions, including notable names like Swift, DTCC, and ANZ. Additionally, Chainlink Labs partners with leading Web3 organizations such as Aave, Compound, GMX, Maker, and Synthetix. In 2023, Chainlink Labs was recognized in Newsweek’s 100 Most Loved Workplaces in both the United States and the United Kingdom.

Chainlink Labs is pioneering the creation of the world’s first entirely sustainable and decentralized oracle network. The Economics team is seeking a Senior Analyst to assume a crucial role in its construction. This position operates at the confluence of blockchain technology, financial innovation, and economic systems, shaping the trajectory of decentralized economics.

As a Senior Analyst, you will leverage expertise in economics, data science, and blockchain to influence incentives, refine network design, and guide the decision-making processes of our Economics and Executive Leadership teams. You will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and operationalizing economic models for real-world applications. Collaboration across various departments will be key to transforming innovative concepts into production-ready solutions, ensuring economic viability and scalability throughout the process.

This is a role with significant impact, providing visibility and influence as you contribute to the evolution of the Chainlink network. If you are a detail-oriented, inventive, and driven individual prepared to tackle complex economic challenges using data-driven approaches in the dynamic Web3 landscape, this opportunity is ideal for you.

Your Impact

  • You will fulfill two main functions: (1) designing and executing analyses that empower the Economics and Executive Leadership teams to make well-informed, data-based decisions, and (2) constructing and managing systems for parameterizing production applications.
  • You will engage with a diverse range of blockchain economics projects, analyses, and systems, such as:
    • Developing novel mechanisms and incentive structures.
    • Building models and simulations to assess investment prospects.
    • Designing and setting parameters for trading systems.
    • Optimizing parameters for applications in production.
    • Contributing to the design of Economics programs and applications.
  • You will enhance network incentives and systems by directly interacting with the Economics, Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams to gain a profound understanding of network dynamics.
  • You will operationalize processes and analytics systems, coordinating cross-functionally for their implementation.
  • This position is highly technical and involves significant interaction. You will have considerable visibility and a substantial influence on how Chainlink develops the world’s premier sustainable decentralized oracle network.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a quantitative capacity, especially in trading or quantitative research.
  • A thorough grasp of financial and crypto markets and their incentive structures.
  • Comprehensive background in financial modeling, including data engineering and model automation.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Python is essential.
  • Experience resolving economic issues through statistical/econometric analysis.
  • Significant experience in data analysis and/or data science.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced background in Economics and/or Finance, demonstrated through Masters-level education or several years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong organizational and coordination abilities required for the productionizing/operationalizing of processes and applications.
  • Experience with smart contract programming (Rust, Go, Solidity) is preferred; at minimum, familiarity with smart contract code and dApp architecture is needed.
  • Published research focusing on economics or crypto (e.g., papers concerning MEV or PBS, staking/slashing dynamics, node compensation, tokenomics, etc.).
